Fine-Tuning Your Output

Overview

After printing or exporting your figure, you may find that your figure needs further adjustment to make it look the way you want. For example, the quality of lines in the figure may not be as high as on the screen, or it may not have the background color you want.

This chapter discusses several ways to fine-tune your output. Except where noted, all settings apply both to printing and exporting.

Note    The operations in this chapter override default settings. The section on Troubleshooting is a useful adjunct to this chapter for adjusting the settings when your output doesn't match expectations.

Ways to Fine-Tune

You can make the following settings to fine-tune your output:

• Select the rendering method to use
• Set a resolution, in dots per inch
• Keep your screen background color in your output
• Keep the axes ticks and limits from rescaling
• Print colored lines and text in color, grayscale, or black and white, or use linestyles when printing in black-and-white (printing only)
• Exclude UI Controls from your output
• Keep your figure from being cropped in the output
• Use the CMYK color space
