Exporting to the Clipboard Using the Graphical Interface

This section shows how to export to the clipboard using the graphical user interface. For directions on using MATLAB commands to export to the clipboard, see Exporting to the Clipboard Using MATLAB Commands.

Default Settings

The default settings for exporting to clipboard are nearly the same as for exporting to file. The exceptions are the default format and default background handling. When you export to the clipboard, MATLAB chooses one of two formats depending on the objects in your figure, and the default background color of the output file is transparent.

To change default clipboard settings, use the Preferences dialog box. The Preferences dialog box contains two panels for clipboard export:

• The Figure Copy Template Preferences panel. This enables you to create and apply a template to the current figure. The settings only apply to the current figure. See Creating and Applying a Copy Template.
• The Copy Options Preferences panel. This enables you to override MATLAB factory defaults for clipboard operations. Your settings here remain from session-to-session. See Setting Copy Preferences.
