In this research project, supported by a planning grant from National Science Foundation, we will conduct the initial research to develop a new research methodology to study and quantify important system characteristics of these applications. The goal of this project is to address the need for understanding large applications from a system perspective. In particular, we will conduct the initial work to study and quantify numerous system characteristics for the finite element application.
