Adding a Legend
Important: The legend is not anchored to the axes. If you resize or move the axes, or create new subplots, you probably will need to move the legend afterwards. For this reason, resize or move the axes before adding legend.
To add a legend for the axes:
- 1
. - Start plot edit mode.
- 2
. - From the Tools menu, select Show Legend. Or right-click in an empty area
of the axes, and from the pop-up menu, select Show Legend.
- The legend appears in the figure. Below is an example of a legend.

- 3
. - To edit the text in the legend, double-click directly on the text. An edit box
appears around the text. Make changes to the text and then click outside of
the text edit box to see the changes.
- 4
. - Move the legend by dragging it to the new location.
To hide the legend, select Show Legend from the Tools menu, or right-click in the axes and select Show Legend from the pop-up menu. The menu item becomes unchecked and the legend does not appear in the axes.
When you make changes to the plot lines, for example, change the color, the legend automatically updates to reflect the changes.
