ABSTRACT: We report a dual-beam (pulsed-pump, cw-probe) Z-scan technique for characterizing time-dependent optical nonlinearities. Continuous monitoring of probe transmission after pump excitation enables efficient determination of nonlinear refraction n(I,t) and absorption alpha(I,t).
