CHAIRMAN'S COLUMN A few weeks ago the Dean approved the creation of a new Center in McCormick under the direction of Alok Choudhary. The Center for Ultra-scale Computing and Information Security now has a web page:
Bill Tetzlaff, member of the ECE Advisory Board from IBM, has been elected President of the IBM Academy of Technology for a two-year term. Please join me in congratulating Bill on this honor.
-Abe Haddad TRAVEL Professor Abe Haddad is traveling to Taiwan, May 1-8, to give one-hour presentations at the Department of Electrical Engineering at the National Chung-Hsing University, Taichung, and at the National Chung-Cheng University, Chia-Yi. He is attending Automation 2005 and is a member of the Advisory Committee of the Conference. Professor Yehea Ismail chaired the Great Lakes Symposium on VLSI in Chicago from April 17-19. Dean Ottino gave a talk in the conference Banquet. Professor Ismail travelled to Intel Circuits Research Labs where he gave a talk and met with the groups in this division.
Prem Kumar traveled to College Park, MD, on April 28, and attended
MURI Project Review and made final project presentation in the Lab for
Physical Sciences of the University of Maryland.
