CHAIRMAN'S COLUMN

This is the middle of the Winter Quarter and it is time for the mid-quarter evaluation of our courses. Martin Plonus will place in the faculty mailboxes the form to be used to get feedback on the courses so changes can be made for the rest of the quarter.

Next week we have a visit from Motorola to review progress of the Motorola Center for Telecommunications Research, scheduled for Thursday, February 17, 2005.

Jorge Nocedal traveled to Mexico City, Mexico, February 2-6, for the Workshop on Computational Science, Instituto de Estudios Nucleares, UNAM and presented a paper entitled, "Large Scale Optimization."
