ECE Department Weekly Newsletter
October 4, 2004

CHAIRMAN'S COLUMN

Last week we had our first Motorola Distinguished Lecture presented by Professor David Munson of the University of Michigan. It was a very interesting lecture and our faculty and students enjoyed his visit to our department.

This week we have a visit by Dan Oblinger of IBM Research on Wednesday, October 6. He will meet with students and faculty, so please let Nancy know if you wish to speak with him individually (nancy@ece.northwestern.edu). There will be a panel discussion in Room L324 at noon involving others from IBM. Food will be served.

We are fortunate to have another interesting seminar on Friday, October 8 at 11:30 in Room L324, presented by Professor Claire Tomlin of Stanford University. Professor Tomlin is the 2003 winner of the Eckman Award of the American Automatic Control Council.

Finally, a reminder that the deadline for the Motorola Sponsored Undergraduate Research Program is October 15, 2004.

We look forward to an interesting week for ECE at Northwestern.
