CHAIRMAN'S COLUMN In this newsletter, I am delighted to announce the recipients of the 2004-2005 year Motorola Sponsored Undergraduate Research Program. The aim of this grant is to allow our undergraduates to do research with faculty and senior graduate students so that they get to know what research is all about. The stipend this year is $1,200 per quarter for each student for Winter and Spring Quarters.

Elaine Jen I wish to congratulate all the undergraduate students who were selected for these awards. I am looking forward to seeing the results of this research at the end of the academic year, when the results will be presented in a poster session at Motorola in June. On Friday this week (Oct. 29, 2004) we expect a visit by William Tetzlaff of IBM. He is also a member of the ECE Advisory Board.
