ECE Department Weekly Newsletter November 1, 2004 |

CHAIRMAN'S COLUMN For this week we have two key items of interest to faculty and students: Each year, the ECE department prepares a Resume Booklet which lists the resumes of our graduating students. We send this booklet to various companies to help our students find jobs after graduation. We also send this booklet to other universities to help our students consider graduate school (M.S. or Ph.D) at those universities. This year we will list one-page resumes of all our graduating B.S. students in electrical engineering and computer engineering, one-page resumes of our graduating M.S. students in electrical and computer engineering, and two-page resumes of our graduating Ph.D. students. We will list all students who are planning to graduate between Sep. 1, 2004 and Aug. 31, 2005 in this booklet. We will prepare the Resume Booklet in two forms: (1) hardcopy and (2) electronic. Graduating students are encouraged to email their resumes using WORD or PDF files to Brooke Hildebrand (brooke@ece.northwestern.edu) by Friday, Nov. 12, 2004. Brooke will collect all the resumes and prepare the booklet by Nov. 22 and mail it to various companies and universities by Nov. 30, 2004. I want to thank Brooke in advance for agreeing to compile this booklet. The second item is that it is time to conduct the mid-quarter evaluation of our classes. All faculty members received the form in their mailboxes last week from Martin Plonus, and we hope that the evaluation will provide feedback to help improve the quality of instruction in ECE.
