ECE Department Weekly Newsletter January 13-17, 2003 |
|
|
For the past three years, the ECE Department has held a Motorola Sponsored Distinguished Lectureship Series made possible through a gift from Motorola. The purpose of these lectures is to invite internationally renowned researchers to give seminars on some exciting research topics in their respective fields in Electrical and Computer Engineering. This gives the faculty and students in our department an opportunity to meet these distinguished visitors in person, and also for these visitors to learn about the exciting research being done at Northwestern. We are pleased to have our first Motorola Distinguished Lecture of the Winter Quarter on Monday, January 13, at 4:00 p.m. Professor Eric Ippen from MIT will speak on "Femtosecond Optics." Dr. Ippen is Elihu Thompson Professor of Electrical Engineering, and Professor of Physics at the Massachusetts Instititute of Technology. I invite all faculty and students to join us for his seminar that day. See official announcement below. -Prith Banerjee
