CHAIRMAN'S COLUMN

The faculty recruiting season has begun. Next week we will have our first set of faculty candidates visiting us. Jean-Piere Leburton from the University of Illinois will give a seminar on Monday, and Elif Uysal-Biyikoglu from Stanford will give a seminar on Tuesday. See details in the seminar announcements below.

I invite all faculty and graduate students to attend both seminars. Your feedback on the faculty candidates is crucial.

UPCOMING SPECIAL EVENT

Members of the ECE Department represent many countries, and we would like to celebrate this fact with an ECE International Potluck, to be held on Wednesday, February 12th, from 12:00 - 2:00 in the Conference Room. Everyone is invited, and your families are welcome, too.

You are encouraged to prepare and bring a dish from your country, either a main course, dessert, or beverage, to share with our ECE community.

We are preparing tiny pennant flags with your names on them, and you will be able to pin your flag on your home town on the world map.

See you a week from Wednesday!

-Jill Wright
