CHAIRMAN'S COLUMN

This week we continue with our faculty interviewing activities. We have two computer engineering faculty candidates this week.

On Wednesday, Feb. 19, we will interview Mr. Yunjian Jiang who is a Ph.D. candidate in Electrical Engineering from the University of California at Berkeley. He will present his seminar at 11AM.

On Thursday, Feb. 20, we will interview Dr. Bharat Bharghava who is a Professor of Computer Science from Purdue University. He will present his seminar at 11AM that day.

I invite all faculty and students to attend these seminars (see detailed announcements below).

TRAVEL

Professor Prem Kumar traveled to McLean, VA, February 10-12, to attend The Second Workshop on Quantum Cryptographic Applications. He presented a paper entitled, "Efficient quantum cryptography with coherent-state light in optical fibers at Gbps rates."

Professor Horace Yuen also traveled to McLean, VA, February 10-12, to attend The Second Workshop on Quantum Cryptographic Applications. He presented a paper entitled, "New Principles of Quantum Cryptography."
