Congratulations are in order to the following on their excellent achievements:
Professor Yehea Ismail received the 2002 IEEE Circuits and Systems Outstanding Young Author Award for his paper, "Effects of Inductance on the Propagation Delay and Repeater Insertion in VLSI Circuits", IEEE Transactions on Very Large Scale Integration (VLSI) Systems, vol. 8, no. 2, pp. 195-206, April 2000. The official announcement and award presentation was made during the Design Automation Conference in New Orleans on Tuesday, June 11, 2002.
Prof. Allen Taflove was among those most cited faculty according to the ISI.
Prof. Michael L. Honig and his student Weimin Xiao won the 2002 IEEE Communications Society and Information Theory Society Joint Paper Award for his article: "Performance of Reduced-Rank Linear Interference Suppression," appearing in the IEEE Transactions on Information Theory, Vol. 47, No. 5, July, 2001.

Professor Prem Kumar is traveling to Bombay, India, June 15-29, to visit the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research in Bombay and set up a collaborative program with the CPCC.
Professor Jorge Nocedal traveled to Toronto, Canada, May 18-22, to present the paper, "The Knitro package: improvements and extensions," at the SIAM Conference on Optimization.
Professor Valerie Taylor will travel to Baltimore, MD, July 8-12, to attend the SUPERCOMPUTING 2003 (SC2003 ) Planning Meeting as Technical Program Co-Chair, the SCxy Steering Committee Meeting as a member of this committee, and attend the SUPERCOMPUTING 2002(SC2002) Meeting as Posters Chair.
Professor Yehea Ismail received a donation from Intel of two advanced workstations and software, worth approximately $40,000.
