TRAVEL

Prof. Carl Kannewurf is traveling to Vancouver, B.C. and Seattle, WA, March 8-19, to attend the American Physical Society March meeting, where he is involved in the presentation of two papers.

Prof. Jorge Nocedal is traveling to Oxford and Dundee, UK, March 11-22, to give an invited lecture, "Improved minimization techniques for data assimilation" at the European Center for Weather Forecasting, and to visit the University of Dundee, Scotland, for research collaboration with Prof. R. Fletcher.

Prof. Valerie E. Taylor is traveling to Portsmouth, VA, March 12-13, to present the paper, "Design and Development of the Prophesy Performance Database for Distributed Scientific Applications," at the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics (SIAM) conference.

Prof. Bruce Wessels is traveling to Anaheim, CA, March 17-21, to attend the Optical Fiber Conference

CSRL NEWS

PC SUPPORT POSITION FILLED

I'm pleased to announce that Mr. Jorge Lopez has accepted our offer of employment. He will replace Tim Johnson as ECE's PC support staff member. Jorge begins working with us on Monday, March 12th. The department wishes him the warmest of welcomes.
