This page contains news related to the ECE department for the current week. Specifically, it includes information about seminars, exams, travel, research grants, professional news, and personal news.
This newsletter is also emailed by Friday afternoon of the previous week to all faculty, staff, and students in ECE.
If you are not receiving this email, please contact <nancy@ece.northwestern.edu> and we will get you on that email list.
In this newsletter, I wish to update everyone on the status of our faculty recruiting for the next academic year. We have received more than 200 applications for the five faculty position openings that we have in our department. We requested letters of reference for about 50 candidates. On the basis of the resumes and the letters, the Recruiting Committee of the department has decided to invite nine candidates thus far for interviews. These candidates will be visiting us over the next four weeks and we will have an extremely busy Winter Quarter.
Students and faculty are encouraged to attend the faculty candidate seminars and provide us feedback on the candidates. After all, some of these candidates will become our colleagues and teachers next year.
Here is the latest schedule of faculty candidate visits and their hosts. Please mark your calendar and watch for the seminar announcements each week in the newsletter.
