On Friday, December 14, the ECE Department will hold its Faculty and Staff Holiday Luncheon to celebrate the end of the year and show our appreciation to the outstanding staff members who make the department run smoothly and efficiently.

John Ireland, doctoral candidate with Professor Carl Kannewurf, presented a paper and received one of two student awards for an outstanding presentation in Symposium G of the Fall MRS Meeting in Boston, November 26-30.
Professor Prith Banerjee traveled to Portland, OR, Dec. 5-6, to visit Mentor Graphics Corporation. He is traveling to San Jose, CA, Dec. 10-12, to visit various companies including Quicklogic, Synplicity, Virata, Voyan, and Centillium.
Professor Renato Figueiredo is traveling to Orlando, FL, Dec. 13-16, to attend the Mini-workshop on Internet Process Coordination and Ubiquitous Computing and present a paper entitled, "Towards Coordinated Work on the Grid: Data Sharing through Virtual File Systems."
Professor Carl Kannewurf attended the Fall MRS meeting in Boston, Nov. 26-30, and was involved with several papers.
Professor Manijeh Razeghi traveled to Washington, DC, Dec. 5-7, and gave the invited talk, "Recent Advances and Future Trends of InAs/GaSb Superlattice for Very Long Wavelength Infrared Focal Plane Arrays (FPAs)," at the International Semiconductor Device Research Symposium (ISDRS'01). Two student presentations were given: "Development of Quantum Cascade Lasers for High Peak Output Power and Low Threshold Current Density," and "Very High Quality p-type AlxGa1-xN/GaN Superlattice."
