I would like to inform everyone that the new ECE web page is up and running, thanks to Cuong Pham and David Zaretsky, who worked with many of the Web Contest judges to improve the look and contents of the page this week. Please take a moment to visit the web site at: www.ece.nwu.edu.
One of the interesting links we have created is the "Employment" link. There we have created links to various positions open in our department as well as positions open in other universities and companies. We have also created a link to University Career Services, with whom we are going to work very closely with respect to placing our students.
STUDENTS PLEASE NOTE: We are going to publish a Resume Booklet of all ECE undergraduate and graduate students that are going to graduate in June 1999. Senior undergrads and terminal MS students need to turn in one-page resumes to the Chairman's secretary, Nancy Singer (nancy@ece.nwu.edu), in the ECE main office (MG78) by Nov. 6, 1998. Terminal Ph.D. students may turn in two-page resumes. You can use any format but all the information must fit on one page (two pages for Ph.D. students). We will publish the Resume Booklet by Nov. 15, 1998. Subsequently, Prof. Prem Kumar (Director, ECE Alumni and Industrial Relations) and I will send the resume booklet with a cover letter from us to the top 20 ECE companies in the country, inviting them to interview our students. We have already started the procedure with Hewlett-Packard and Intel Corporation.
Please cooperate with us in this new initiative to place our students in the top 20 companies.
