ARRRG: Architecture Research Roundtable and Reading Group

We meet every Wednesday from 1-2pm at Ford 3-340. Please feel free to drop by and join us!

Reading Group Format
The format for the reading group will be as follows. Each week a different student will take charge of leading the reading group. Beforehand, the lead student chooses the topic for discussion. This may be (1) a paper, (2) a topic with a small group of papers, or (3) anything else you feel warrants ARRRG time. At the meeting, the lead student provides a brief overview of the paper/topic and is responsible for kicking off group discussion. It may be helpful to create a small set of slides listing the problem, solution, contributions, and points for discussion. The other attendees should read enough of the paper to meaningfully contribute to the discussion (preferably the whole thing of course :).

Note
A few other notes and things to keep in mind:

There is a lot of freedom in choosing papers/topics with respect to date of publication, specific topics, etc. The only constraint is that the paper/topic must of interest to computer architects.
Lead students are not expected to be the expert in the room. It is OK if you do not understand everything; in fact, these questions would be good for discussion.
Try to keep discussion as contructive as possible. What are the contributions of the paper? What are the implications of these contributions? How can the ideas be built upon? It is easy to poke holes in assumptions, methdology, etc., but lets go beyond this.
