Thrasos Pappas is an Associate Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. He joined the ECE department in 1999. Prior to that, he was at Bell Laboratories in Murray Hill, NJ. He has authored about 50 journal and refereed conference publications, two book chapters, and seven edited proceedings. He currently has five student advisees. He received his B.S. in Electrical Engineering in 1979; he received his M.S. in 1982 and his Ph.D. in 1987, both in EE and Computer Science, and all degrees from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Research Interests
Image and video compression, perceptual models for image processing, model-based halftoning, image and video analysis, multimedia signal processing
