Gokhan Memik joined the Department of Electrical
and Computer Engineering in September, 2003. He received his B.S.
degree from Bogazici University and his M.S. degree from Northwestern
University, both in Computer Engineering. He received his Ph.D.
degree in Electrical Engineering from University of California at
Los Angeles (UCLA) in July 2003, where he majored in Embedded Computing
Systems. During his Ph.D. work, he developed several optimizations
for Network Processor microarchitectures. He is also the author
of NetBench, a widely used benchmarking suite for Network Processors.
Dr. Memik worked with HP Labs during the summers of 2000 and 2002.
He was also associated with Bimtek, a startup company providing
internet solutions between 1997 and 2000, and Blue Front Defenses,
a startup company that designs hardware-based network security solutions,
between 2001 and 2002. He is the author of 2 book chapters and over
25 journal and refereed conference publications in these areas.
