Abstract
In this paper, we have presented a novel framework of a Web-based automated electronic design environment. The design files of a user working in a remote machine are transparently shipped to our local Compute Center, the relevant computations are performed in a parallel environment and then the results are returned back to the user. The whole process is done efficiently and transparently without the user having to bother about any low-level details. The goal of this project is to make available to the CAD tool users some of the core parallel applications like ProperVHDL, ProperSIS and ProperPLACE. At present, the ProperPLACE tool has been made available on the Internet for use by the CAD community. Results from a preliminary implementation of a parallel placement tool are impressive and show the feasibility of the approach.
