In this new grant from the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) Information Technology Office, we have received funding at a level of $2 million for the 3 year period 1997-2000. The goals of the project are to investigate issues in adaptive computing architectures, configuration management techniques, compilation and mapping algorithms, and software algorithms optimized for adaptive computing systems using field-programmable gate-arrays. It will produce a general-purpose computing paradigm simple enough to become a standard mass-market computing model, yet with enough power to enable several orders of magnitude speedup for military applications.
