Using This Guide
System Identification is about building mathematical models of dynamic systems based on measured data. Some knowledge about such models is therefore necessary for successful use of the toolbox. The topic is treated in several places in Tutorial and there is a wide range of textbooks available for introductory and in-depth studies. For basic use of the toolbox, it is sufficient to have quite superficial insights about dynamic models. For review of basic knowledge, see How do I get started?.
If you are a beginner, browse through The Graphical User Interface and try out a couple of the data sets that come with the toolbox. Use the graphical user interface (GUI) and check out the built-in help functions to understand what you are doing.
